recycling

There has been a coffee table on the corner across the street from me for about a week. Sitting there next to the fire hydrant... waiting.

It showed up with a few other more desirable items, that were quickly grabbed last weekend.

But the coffee table wasn't taken. And it sat there for the last week through at least a few rain showers.

So tonight, as I was sitting near my computer, looking out a window that perfectly framed the fire hydrant and adjacent coffee table I was curious to see a young lady run into the frame and quickly deposit a mattress atop the coffee table. She ran off, like a school girl who was afraid of getting caught. I was mostly bemused and yet had a slight concern for the growing dump pile next to the fire hydrant across the street.

So it sat, a mattress atop the coffee table adjacent the fire hydrant. And so I sat in front of the computer, watching "lost" and various other shows... until a few moments ago. That's when I saw a truck pull up, into the frame. A large man, with a hat, got out, he was inspecting the mattress, and moved it into his seat on the passenger side of the truck. Once it was in, he was struck by the coffee table below it. I watched him inspecting it, he liked what he saw and lifted it up with one arm slid it into the back of the pickup. He then moved the mattress on top, reclaimed his seat on the passenger side, and drove away. I guess that's the nice part about tables versus sofas/ or chairs/ or mattresses, they can withstand the weather.
